East children’s home gets facelift

For four days, volunteers worked tirelessly to transform the home using about 2 000 litres of paint in the process.

It was all smiles when Kungwini welfare organisation home was officially re-opened on Tuesday after it was given a facelift by Prominent Paints.

The children were treated to a party with balloons, cupcakes, and other treats at the reopening party.

Kungwini cares for 160 disabled children and adults in the east.

Sixty volunteers came together to beautify Kungwini.

For four days, they worked tirelessly to overhaul and transform the home using about 2 000 litres of paint in the process.

Julia Christison of Prominent Paints said new bedding, curtains, outdoor furniture, gym equipment and umbrellas were also supplied to complete the overhaul.

“They are the first charitable organisation on the continent to receive a donation from the Colorful Communities programme,” said Christison.

Kungwini spokesperson Marlizet Dempers said words could not describe how thankful they were for the difference Prominent Paint had made.

“When the children wake up in the morning I would like their day to start colourfully,” said house mother Hann’Elise Nel.

The overhaul was valued at R100 000.
