“The festival was packed with shows, live agricultural demonstrations, celebrity chefs and entertainment for the whole family,” Gauteng department of agriculture spokesperson Oyama Buso said.

He said the festival was interactive.

“It focused on products and services from agricultural machinery, livestock, poultry, input suppliers, biotechnology, agro-processors, food, animal abattoir, manufacturers and food service industries,” he said.

“A cross-section of related institutions and organisations in the education and financial sectors benefitted from this dynamic new festival.”

Buso said proudly South African menus specially prepared by a variety of local food vendors and celebrity chefs were on offer.

“The two-day event was ideal for the entire family.”

He also said that farmers, township entrepreneurs and individuals from the banking and retail sectors participated in the festival.

“The festival let farmers and entrepreneurs share knowledge as well as showcase the latest farming technology,” he said.

“The idea behind this is for all these sectors in the province to discuss modernisation, transformation, growth of agro-processing or food manufacturing and services.”

“This festival is aimed at a broad range of attendees,” he said.
