Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra mesmerises audience at Brooklyn Theatre

Orchestral music and Disney lovers gathered at Brooklyn Theatre on Sunday to witness Disney-inspired music by the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra.

Conducted by award-winning conductor, Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg the performance was of world class.

The performance was part of the 2017 Gauteng International Arts Festival currently underway.

Big names and productions are expected at the festival that started on 29 September and will end on 5 October.

The Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra consists of individuals who are passionate about what they do.

The theatre was sold out and both young and old surely had a good time.

Zuilenburg holds N international performers diplomas from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in London, Unisa and the Rotterdam Conservatoire, the Netherlands, a DMus in musicology as well as an MBA.

Husband and wife team Marina Botha-Spies (soprano) and Tinus Spies (tenor) mesmerised attendees with their amazing vocals.

Marina holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Pretoria and a degree in Vocal Art (Opera) from the Tshwane University of Technology.

She was invited to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, to perform in JS Bach’s Magnificat in D Major as well as debut Claude Pahud’s Te Deum in November 2014.

Tinus has completed his BTech Vocal Arts Degree (Cum Laude) at the Tshwane University of Technology, and MMus (Performance) cum laude at the University of Pretoria under the tutelage of Eric Muller.

This versatile vocal artist has appeared in many productions as a soloist including Christmas 2008 (KykNet), Hidden Treasures (ClassicFeel Magazine), Mozart’s The Magic Flute (2013, 2014 & 2015) and many more.

Kim Weiner said she enjoyed the music.

“The Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra are top notch, it does not getter better than that. They were so good, I wish they can do more shows,” she said.
