Thursday evening marked 41 years in South Africa of the original Das Oktoberfest at the Deutsche International Schule in Pretoria.
The Oktoberfest is a time where South African men and women can dress up in lederhosen and dirndl, and eat hearty traditional foods.
The Oktoberfest is also the school’s annual money-raiser, attracting more than 100 000 supporters every year to celebrate in true German tradition under African skies.

This festival grants Pretorians the opportunity to taste Germany with eisbein, kassler, bockwurst and a cold draught.
Visitors can also hear Germany with The Lasterbacher Oompah Band, flown in especially for the Oktoberfest.
Das Oktoberfest 2017 offered: The Lasterbacher Oompah Band from Germany; German and local draught and craft beer; authentic German fare from eisbein and bratwurst to schnitzel and more.

Old and young gathered to experience authentic German hospitality by the school’s parents, learners and school community.
