GALLERY: Fallen soldiers remembered at Voortrekker
The service is dedicated to soldiers who died for the country.
The Voortrekker Monument hosted the annual service for fallen members of the SA Defence Force on Sunday morning.
The service, attended by 700 guests including families of the fallen soldiers, took place at the SADF Wall of Remembrance.
Organiser Major-General Gert Opperman said the service was mainly dedicated to soldiers who died for the country.
“This event is not only for the victims who died during the so-called Border War but all soldiers who fought for the country.”

He said the SADF Wall remembrance was inaugurated during a moving wreath-laying ceremony on 25 October 2009.
“The event was attended by many family members of those persons who lost their lives from 31 May 1961 to 27 April 1994, when the SADF was incorporated into the SA National Defence Force.”
Opperman said 100 wreaths were laid every year mainly by families of the soldiers who died.
