Hollywood Walk of Fame event a success

The Hollywood Walk of Fame show at the Barnyard theatre in Pretoria East was enjoyed by residents across Pretoria on Saturday.

The event was held to raise money for the NGO LifeLine, a walk-in counselling centre.

LifeLine director Sonya Rayne said the event sold 100 tickets and R15 000 was raised.

“This includes raffle tickets, tickets bought at the door and donations,” said Rayne.

She said LifeLine’s probationists, who are trainee counsellors, came up with the money raising initiative.

Rayne said LifeLine offered free counselling services to individuals, but charged a fee to corporates and companies.

Trainee counsellor Sheena Dinkelmann said she was grateful the Barnyard theatre was willing to assist with the venue, meals and entertainment.

“We get a percentage of the tickets and food we pre-ordered,” said Dinkelmann.

Roxanne Kellerman, another trainee counsellor, said she was happy to be a part of LifeLine and she had made new friends along the way.

“It’s been great to know everyone because when we all started, we were new,” said Kellerman.

“We all organised this, we’ve been a girl power team.”
