Chinese New Year celebration adds value to the community

The Event Wizards, the event management company, celebrated Chinese New Year under the theme monkey to raise food to support disadvantaged children.

The Chinese New Year was celebrated at the Event Wizards office in Menlo Park on Saturday, to raise money for disadvantaged children.

“The Chinese New Year, celebrated for around 20 days, is about giving to those less fortunate,” manager for event management company, Event Wizards Madeleine de Klerk said.

De Klerk said the event would benefit the Bramley Children’s home which looked after more than 50 abused and traumatised children.

The guests were urged to bring food parcels to be donated to the home.

In attendance was representative of the Child Welfare Tshwane Hanlie Delport who said said disadvantaged children needed love and care.

“Disadvantaged children do not have most things we take for granted – food or toy or a hug means so much to them,” Delport said.

She said the Child Welfare Tshwane relied on community support for the services it rendered.

Delport said events such as the Chinese New Year added value to charity organisations.

This is the year of the monkey in the Chinese calendar.
