Vista celebrates 30 years of existence.

Vista clinic celebrated 30 years of existence with a formal evening function in the Royal Elephant hotel in Centurion on 10 September.

The guest list included the Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa, provincial health officials, and directors of Vista.

Psychiatrist Dr Japie Vermaak started Vista Clinic with only 20 beds in 1984 in his private home in Pretoria. He identified the need for a private psychiatric hospital in Pretoria after a patient committed suicide when no bed was available at the state psychiatric hospital.

Today, Vista clinic has 158 beds, making it one of the largest private psychiatric hospitals in Southern Africa. It is a proud participant to the global Adventist Health Care network which is the second largest health care provider worldwide. In South Africa, Vista Clinic forms part of the National Hospital Network.

For the celebration event, Vista purchased 300 bottles of sparkling grape juice from Ashton Cellars in the Western Cape as part of their ongoing community responsibility. Ashton Cellars donates R1 for every bottle of sparkling grape juice sold to the Meals on Wheels project which is an initiative of the Seventh Day Adventist church.

Guests received gifts with significant meaning in the form of branded 30 year celebration olive oil products. One of the great symbols in the Bible is the symbol of olives which symbolises life, renewal, resilience, and peace while olive oil symbolises purity, protection, health and light. Vista Clinic associates with these characteristics.
