100th Parkrun held at Botanical Gardens

The Botanical Gardens hosted the 100th parkrun on Saturday.

Thousands of runners descended on the Botanical Gardens on Saturday morning for the 100th Parkrun.

The Parkrun, a weekly 5km-timed run, was attended by runners from various corners of Gauteng.

The Parkrun is an event open to everyone, free and are safe and easy to take part in.

The event’s organiser, Deon Kruger, said the objective of the event was to encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running the Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience.

This worldwide event takes place in pleasant parkland surroundings, which is why the organisers decided on the Botanical Gardens.

“It is important we should celebrate our runners and also appeal to sponsors,” said Kruger.
