Locals give Grade 12 learners lift ahead of exams

The Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation has started a campaign to donate more than 1 000 much-needed stationery packs to matriculants at certain Mamelodi high schools.

Mamelodi learners have been encouraged to always be consistent in their schoolwork and never give up.

This comes as the Dlalisa Moyeni Foundation provided stationery packs to Grade 12 learners in the township on Friday.

The foundation visited Rephafogile Secondary School in the far east of Mamelodi to gift learners with stationery and encourage them to work hard in their final examination.

Themba Masango from Dlalisa Moyeni said the foundation’s donation of stationery packs is an annual event.

He said the final matriculation exams mean the end of a high school journey for learners around the country.

“The foundation has started a campaign to donate more than 1 000 much-needed stationery packs to matriculants in selected Mamelodi high schools.”

So far, the foundation has identified four secondary schools in Mamelodi, Jafta Mahlangu, Rephafogile, Rebane Laka, Vukani Mawethu, as well as high schools in the Nellmapius area.

In his message to the learners, Masango said it was time they focus on school work and make sure they finish this year on a high note.

“We may have started in a difficult way; we started slow with bad marks, but now it’s time to focus and get the best marks possible.

“These stationery packs will assist in getting the necessary marks and all the help we can give. If you do a little bit every day, you are better than the person who doesn’t do anything at all.

“The academic year is drawing to a close now, but for many learners around our country, having basic stationery, especially before year-end exams, remains a challenge,” he said.

“The stationery drive will continue throughout the month of October as we visit other schools. We aim to assist over 10 000 pupils during this period.”

Masango said he appreciated all the stakeholders that made it possible for the foundation to contribute in a meaningful way to the success of their children.

The school in turn appreciated the foundation for being very supportive for several years.
