Here is when the September holiday will end and school will start

As South African learners enjoy their September holidays, it’s important to note that the break will end soon.

Schools are set to reopen in early October, marking the start of the fourth and final term of the academic year.

There is no longer a difference between inland and coastal schools breaking up and returning to school, as was previously the case.

The final term of the academic year will commence on October 1 and come to a close on December 11, with learners eagerly anticipating the end-of-year holidays.

The fourth term of 2024 will last for 10 weeks and 3 days. During this term, learners will have the opportunity to celebrate the Day of Reconciliation on December 16, the Day of Goodwill on December 26, and New Year’s Day on January 01, 2025.

Diarise the following public holidays in 2024 and plan your vacations accordingly!

Here are the remaining public holidays in 2024:

  • Monday, December 16: Day of Reconciliation
  • Wednesday, December 25: Christmas Day
  • Thursday, December 26: Day of Goodwill

Cold, snow, and wet conditions are expected to affect parts of the country next week, just as many families prepare to travel back from holiday destinations. Parents are urged to keep a close eye on weather warnings and plan their journeys carefully to avoid dangerous road conditions.
