Possible water supply interruption in east of Pretoria this weekend

The water supply will be affected for five hours, from 08:00 to 13:00.

Tshwane has warned that the water utility Rand Water plans to carry out upgrades to and replacements of the Graham Road and Hatherley Water Meters in Region 6, east of Pretoria on September 28.

The work is scheduled to take place over five hours from 08:00 until 13:00.

During this period, supply to Nellmapius may also be interrupted.

Residents are urged to make use of the following water-saving tips:

– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.

– Do not fill swimming pools.

– Use grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.

– Report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted.

– Install water-saving devices where possible.

Residents are also urged to incorporate the following water conversation tips into their daily post-maintenance work:

– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.

– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.

– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.

– Take a shower rather than a bath.

– Close a running tap while brushing your teeth or shaving.

– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
