Community rallies for a cleaner Ward 50

Residents are encouraged to maintain this momentum, working together to keep their surroundings clean and vibrant.

Residents came together recently for a community clean-up initiative, transforming the feel of several key areas in the region in Sinoville, north of Pretoria.

Organised by the Sinoville Community Policing Forum (SCPF) Sector 1, in partnership with the TMPD Region 2, Tshwane Waste Management, and Sinoville SAPS, the event showcased the power of collaboration in addressing local environmental concerns.

The clean-up kicked off at the Scouts Hall, where volunteers worked diligently to spruce up the facility, turning it into a clean hub for community activities.

The teams dispersed to tackle litter in high-traffic areas such as OK Bazaars, Lavender, and Sefako Makgatho Drive.

Ward 50 councillor Lenise Breytenbach said participants reported an improvement in the cleanliness of these locations.

Breytenbach was a visible presence throughout the day, actively engaging with volunteers and expressing her appreciation for their hard work.

She highlighted the importance of community involvement and stated that every effort counts.

“The clean-up campaign is a true testament to what we can achieve together.”

The clean-up also focused on addressing the ongoing squatting issue in Lavender and the collaboration between SAPS and TMPD in the area drew particular praise.

“One of the achievements of the day was the clean-up around Roman’s Pizza, a site that had become known for litter.

“Our volunteers worked tirelessly in the sweltering heat to restore the area,” said the councillor.

She said residents also played a crucial role in the initiative by reporting areas of concern.

“Their proactive involvement helped identify priority locations that required immediate attention.

“We also visited the Koorsboom dumping site. We must continue to take pride in our community and ensure our environment remains clean for future generations,” she said.

Ward 50 residents are encouraged to maintain this momentum, working together to keep their surroundings clean and vibrant.

“With ongoing efforts like this, the future looks promising for a cleaner, more engaged community.”
