Organisation launched to empower women

The Ema Basadi Foundation assessed the needs of women in the area and surroundings and provided sources for potential opportunities.

Women attending a transformative event in Roslyn, in the north of Pretoria on Saturday met their “destiny helpers”.

The Ema Basadi Foundation hosted the event, aimed at empowering women to unlock their full potential by connecting them with influential “destiny helpers” and access to life-changing opportunities.

The event also saw the launch of the non-profit organisation.

According to founder Boipelo Bopape, the purpose was to support women’s initiatives and assist and encourage women to rise from poverty and stagnation in all areas of their lives.

Bopape said the inspiration for the organisation is her upbringing as a young woman, growing up in a society that rejected her because of her past and denied her opportunities to grow.

She said attendees met their destiny helpers and connected to opportunities that could bring empowerment in their lives, while some got job opportunities and were adopted by educational institutions to study for free.

“Other women were encouraged to start businesses that could profit their lives with success and some were able to showcase their work products which were bought.

“They networked and connected with sponsors to assist them with their future endeavours.”

According to Bopape, the launch was extremely positive and fully supported as they also experienced an abundance of people who came from around and even outside of the country.

She said women were excited to be recognised and empowered by Ema Mosadi as a movement that was launched in Pretoria. The foundation will now be going on provincial and national tours to impact women all over.

To address challenges faced by local women, some shared their journey of life experiences they have encountered and how their lives have been impacted.

The foundation identified relevant speakers they could relate to, to bring encouragement on how they’ve conquered the challenges the other women are currently facing.

Bopape said they invited stakeholders who could give women opportunities to better their lives and rise as women in society.

“The event was well supported by a number of stakeholders and partners and all the speakers were relevant and shared life-changing opportunities to uplift women’s lives.”

Bopape said Ema Mosadi has become a networking hub where people come to change the narrative of their current life situation.

“Women were liberated and uplifted.”
