PinkDrive has committed to visiting 12 primary healthcare clinics this year to offer breast cancer screening and examinations, general education, and mammograms.

It is estimated that one in every 28 South African women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Tshwane Health MMC Rina Marx said: “The health department firmly believes that the communities of Tshwane deserve not only quality health services but health services that are accessible. PinkDrive’s mobile facilities will help bring services closer to communities.”

Marx said Tshwane and PinkDrive share a common goal, which is to empower communities through knowledge.

She said awareness and early detection can save lives.

“As the MMC for Health, I extend my appreciation to PinkDrive, as it works towards closing the gap between public and private healthcare when it comes to cancer,” Marx said.

“The renewal of this partnership demonstrates the commitment of the two parties to jointly address the cancer burden in South Africa and to take community services closer to communities,” Kotschan said.
