Pretoria is ramping up for the festive season with local events across the city.

 

 


Christmas Lights Extravaganza, December 1

Enjoy a spectacular light display as the Time Square garden comes alive with thousands of sparkling lights.

The lights will be there for the rest of the month, so keep it on your festive to-do list to enjoy the food stalls and photo opportunities.


LKM Kersmark, December 2

Lavender Kontrei Market near the Wonderboom Airport is hosting a full day of Christmas shopping on Saturday, from 08:00 to 21:00.

The market has loads of stalls with everything from handmade products, décor, the perfect gifts, and special toys for the kids, while it also coincides with the Vetplant Fees.

Together with delicious foods, craft beers and cocktails, the market will also have live entertainment from 19:00, including photo ops with Father Christmas.


Irene Villiage Mall Christmas Carols by Candlelight, December 2

Head on over to the Irene Villiage Mall from 19:00 for a Christmas carol singalong and pop-up market, perfect for a family outing.

Come early to to do some Christmas shopping before the singing starts and enjoy the 80 pop-up market stalls and bars.

Entrance is free, but guests are asked to bring their own candle for the carols.

German Christmas Market, December 2

It’s time again for the Christkindlmarkt, the traditional German market hosted annually by the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria.

The market at the school, just off the N4 at The Willows starts at 15:30 and will have a wonderful display of festive lights, traditional and local music, delicious German food, market stalls and much more.

Bishop Bird Park Urban Nature Day and Photo Contest, December 2

One of Pretoria’s unique urban nature spaces, Bishop Bird Park in Rooihuiskraal North is hosting an Urban Nature Day for the whole family.

The day is packed with exciting activities, including a photo competition for adults and youth.

There will be 15 informative exhibitors, while food and beverages will also be available.

The fun in the sun will start from 09:00 until 15:00.


The Social Picnic, Silverton, December 2

Grab your family and friends for a relaxing day outdoors to usher in the festive season with a picnic at the Pioneer Museum in Silverton.

The picnic runs from 10:00 to 20:00 and will feature good music, food stalls, a cocktail bar, an ice-cream and beverage bar, a micro tattoo artist and more.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets, while cooler boxes are welcome for a fee at the door.

Brooklyn’s Festive Carols, December 6

Next Wednesday, enjoy the enchanting family affair at Brooklyn Square with the soul-soothing melodies of Christmas Carols.

The Pretoria Symphony Orchestra will kick off with a performance from 19:00.

Get the best seat in the house by booking at one of Brooklyn Square’s restaurants for dinner with a show.
