This market serves as the heartbeat for the local community and small businesses, providing young entrepreneurs with a great opportunity to showcase their products.

Waverly residents braced Pretoria’s scorching sun to take part in the Hartjie van die Moot market on Saturday, October 7.

The market featured food, good music, and an intimate atmosphere.

Residents flocked to the Oos Moot Rugby stadium to view the cars and tractors on display.

Hendré Swanepoel told Rekord he has been part of the market for many years, adding that he enjoyed every minute.

“It’s events such as these where one is able to make new associates and also put your name, as well as your brand out there.

“It is really a great opportunity for marketing your products and services to customers with the help of organisers,” said Swanepoel.

Jandri Britz came all the way from Villieria to support the market, saying he never missed an opportunity to showcase his products and to mingle with the people.

“Business is always good at such events. One gets to have a chance to explain your product to people and it also helps one to understand their needs,” Britz said.

Wikus van der Westhuizen from Queenswood said he enjoyed it, as it was a nice place to spend time with family and friends.

Van der Westhuizen said the market was also a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs to thrive, acting as advertising for them.

“Today’s market is a bit slow. I suspect the reason this is quiet today is because of the heatwave.

“The market closes off at 17:00. I am sure people will start to come through in the afternoon, once the sun has cooled down a bit,” he said.
