Brooklyn bank robbery suspects arrested

Police were searching for a beige Kia Picanto following the robbery on Monday.

Three bank robbery suspects were caught near a popular shopping centre in Solomon Mahlangu Drive near Erasmusrand on Tuesday, September 19.

According to Tshwane SAPS spokesperson, Johan van Dyk, an armed robbery took place in Brooklyn on Monday.

Police were searching for the culprits until Fidelity ADT Centurion received a tip-off about the vehicle connected to the robbery.

According to Fidelity Services Group, its Centurion team received information about the beige Kia Picanto involved in the robbery.

“The vehicle was spotted at a local shopping centre, where the suspects were observed while a tactical takedown was planned,” it said.

“The suspects spotted the security vehicles, and the driver jumped in the pit to evade arrest.”

Fidelity said the driver was detained, while the chase continued.

Two more suspects were later arrested following a vehicle chase.
