Tshwane Flying Squad makes two breakthroughs in Atteridgeville

The officers searched the vehicle and several other false number plates and tools to change them were found.

Two suspects were arrested by the Tshwane Flying Squad for housebreaking and other related crimes in Pretoria West at Industrial Road on Monday.

The two male suspects were arrested after being caught driving a white Polo with false number plates.

The officers searched the vehicle and several other false number plates and tools to change them were found, leading the police to believe the suspects were involved in other crimes.

The pair were swiftly arrested and charged with possession of housebreaking implements and fraud, driving with false number plates and the possession of numerous other unregistered number plates.

Tshwane Flying Squad communications officer Alfred Legodi confirmed that the suspects’ car was also seized.

Later that day, the Flying Squad achieved another success by locating and recovering a stolen white Audi S5 Sportback (worth R900 000) at 18th Street in Atteridgeville West.

The Audi was stolen in a hijacking in Lotus Gardens, Pretoria West and authorities have been on the lookout for the car since.

When Flying Squad respondents recovered the car during the late hours of the evening, there were no suspects on site, as if it had been abandoned.

The car was seized and transported back to headquarters to undergo enquiry processes before being returned to the owner.

The hijacking suspects are still at large and the Tshwane Flying Squad is asking the public to come forward with any information relating to this crime.

The housebreaking and fraud suspects are expected to appear in court in due course.

Residents with any information are urged to contact the Tshwane Flying Squad at 012 841 0048.
