Wierdaburg CPF to conduct visibility patrol

Joining a CPF is one of the most effective ways to keep your neighbourhood safe.

The Wierdabrug CPF is looking for people to join them on their visibility patrols on August 13 at 18:00.

The CPF covers Eldoraigne, Eldo Glen, Wierda Glen, Wierda Park, Paslouw, Heuweloord, Heuwelsig, Celtisdal and Rooihuiskraal North.

The CPF patrollers will be joined by SAPS, security companies and emergency medical services to make their patrol as effective as possible.

“Become proactive and involved and do not cast a blind eye to the crime and other wrongdoings, which affect our safety and wellbeing,” the CPF said in a statement.

“Once again, we emphasize that community organisations and development workers, including all the private security companies, should cooperate and involve themselves with local CPF structures to mobilise community support in the fight against crime.

“With a CPF, residents have the opportunity to educate and empower constructive relationships to deal with different forms of violence and social issues.

“Crime prevention starts with a proper and effective intelligence network.”

CPF chairperson John Wright said they have 30 volunteers to patrol the streets.

“All patrollers are volunteers who respond to house and business break-ins, armed robberies, vehicle high jacking, motor vehicle, cycle and pedestrian accidents and petty crimes to name a few incidents.

“The CPF works closely with the SAPS, Tshwane metro police and security companies in the area.

“Patrollers can be called upon at any time and organised patrols are done on an ad-hoc basis.

“The CPF is the eyes and ears for the SAPS and very reactive and responsive to community calls,” he said.

Residents who want to get involved with the Wierdaburg CPF can contact John Wright on 082 888 0051.
