Sunnyside has a new CPF committee

Former Sunnyside CPF chairperson retains his leadership position.

Sandile Dube was re-elected as the Sunnyside CPF chairperson at their annual general meeting held at Sunnyside Bowling Club, Pretoria on Wednesday.

Dube is the only former Sunnyside CPF member to have retained his position as all other members of the committee are new.

The new committee members are Shimmy Mashamaite (deputy chairperson), Samuel Boshego (secretary), Jana Pieters (deputy secretary), Carlinn Burts (treasurer) and Caroline Oyiya as public relations officer.

“I feel relieved because the community has assembled a very strong team,” Dube told Rekord.

“In the previous committee, there were some portfolios that were lacking.”

Dube said he was convinced that each new committee member brings in a necessary skill to perform their duties effectively.

He said they will reveal their plan of action soon.

Oyiya said having an experienced member of the committee was important for the well-functioning of the committee.

“We believe we will learn a lot from him and he will also learn a lot from us,” she said.

Oyiya said the committee was ready to start performing its duties.

“We are aiming at excelling in our tasks and work well with the police for the residents of Sunnyside and the surroundings to be safe.”

She said they wanted to create a good relationship between the police and members of the community.

“The good relationship will help the police fight against various crimes including gender-based violence, theft of motor vehicles, theft out of motor vehicles, robberies and more.”

She said they wanted members of the community to become involved in the fight against crime to make the Sunnyside policing present safe.
