If you’re looking for fantastic family movie entertainment this weekend, then look no further: Disney’s new animated comedy-adventure for everyone to enjoy, Encanto, arrives at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria on Friday. Their new Big Screen movie line-up this week also features a hilarious local comedy, a gripping psychological thriller and dramatic mystery!

Encanto (PG)

Welcome to Casa Madigral, where all are exceptional, fantastical, and magical – except Mirabel. Disney’s new movie, Encanto, tells the story of an extraordinary family, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house in a vibrant town in a wondrous, charmed place called an “Encanto.” Mirabel is an ordinary 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family – especially being the only one without a “gift!”

The sequel to the hit comedy-drama, Material, tells the story of Cassim Caif (Riaad Moosa) from Fordsburg, Johannesburg. He is balancing the demands of a new marriage, a young child, living in a house with his ageing parents, and being one of South Africa’s few Muslim stand-up comedians. His father has reluctantly accepted his son’s chosen career for now, but it is still a simmering issue. Also starring Schalk Bezuidenhout and Joey Rasdien.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto”

A murder in the past, a mystery in the future – Last Night In Soho is the new psychological horror thriller from the director of Baby Driver and starring Anya Taylor-Joy. A young girl, passionate in fashion design, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.

Driving in the heart of the Highlands, Edmond Murray (James McAvoy) receives a call from his tearful ex-wife (Claire Foy). Their seven-year-old son has gone missing from a campsite. Soon, it becomes clear that the child has been kidnapped, and the parents fall into despair. My Son is a groundbreaking achievement in filmmaking where both actor and audience uncover a mystery at the same time.
