Winners are ambassadors for charity

The endless charity projects have aided many members in the community.

Amberfield College in Centurion recently chose their winners for the Mr. and Miss Gala Event for June this year and these ambassadors started their first charity project last week.

“Their first charity drive entailed collecting treats and food for animals, and perishable food items and toiletries for people in need,” said principal Vianney Farmer.

“This charity drive, one of many, is in preparation for the Amberfield College Mandela Week outreach.

“Mr and Miss Amberfield Gala Eve was a magical affair,” Farmer said.

“Finalists showed their love for their heritage in the Cultural Wear Category.”

The winners are: Mini Mr and Miss Amberfield 2021 (grades 1-3): Hasandi Maswanganyi and Pholoso Molete; Junior Mr and Miss Amberfield 2021 (grades 4-7): Corey Fahm and Sinothando Malefane; Mr and Miss Amberfield 2021 (grades 8-11): Zidane Rashid and Clairese Williams.

Rashid, as the new reigning Mr Amberfield, opted to showcase his vibrant Indian culture.

He said the colour gold infused with a tint of green to him symbolises SA’s growth and its regenerative power. He finished off his cultural look with the deep red which speaks of the country’s endless passion and zest for life.

“Our new Miss Amberfield, Clairese Williams, hails from Namaqualand. Her outfit was inspired by the native flower, the Namaqua daisy.

“It is a true reflection of the richness of Nama people, which also best showcases her personality. The daisy grows well in sandy, well-drained soil and the daisy is the first sign of spring.”

Farmer said just like the daisy, Clairese’s personality is always in full bloom and she believes that just like the daisy we should always let our beauty be radiant even through the toughest of times.

The competition might also open doors to potential modelling contracts.

Farmer said after a successful reign of their first ever Mr and Miss Amberfield competition in 2019, the winners have gone out into the community to ensure their beauty touches the hearts of both young and old.

“The endless charity projects have aided many members in our community. The college has been blessed with our first-ever title holders and we hold these ambassadors of our ‘beauty with a purpose’ campaign in high esteem.”

He said it was not a beauty pageant. The selected winners are the faces of the College’s charity programme.

“Due to their efforts in uplifting the community, this has become the heart and essence of the competition.”
