The government aids the Mogogelo village in constructing a school

A fully-fledged high school is built at Mogogelo Village in Hammanskraal

A fully-fledged high school is to be built in Mogogelo village, Hammanskraal.

The school was expected to be finished by February 2022.

School children in the area have been without a high school for 10 years now, having to attend schools in nearby villages.

The Hammanskraal local municipality has started with the building of the school that would cater for the village children due to the high number of learners per classroom and the shortage of furniture.

According to the ward councillor Mike Chauke, the village did not have a high school in the community before.

“Recently, Mamodibo, a school that was built by the parents in the community, was merged with Machakela and the number of students in a classroom was high. This is the reason we decided to build a fully-fledged high school,” said Chauke.

Ward committee member Bethuel Ngwandula said the community was expanding and would continue to do so in the coming years.

“The government will soon complete the school that Murry and Dickson Ltd had initially started building.”

Constance Khoza, a community member, said she was relieved that the project was moving forward.

“I spent the last 10 years at Mamodibo which was founded by our parents,” Khoza explained.

Machakela middle school has been serving students since 2014. Small classrooms are used in the school and a single classroom can hold over 100 students.
