The Moot library, in Rietfontein, turned 50 years old on 17 March.

A local library in the Moot celebrated its 50 years of existence last week.

The Moot library, in Rietfontein, turned 50 years old on 17 March, said spokesperson Thana Oberholster.

“Which is why we came together to celebrate the affair.”

Oberholster said the celebration was attended by regular users of the library and past, as well as current library staff.

Oberholster, who has been working at the library for 11 years, said the Moot user committee, was also in attendance.

She said the committee previously donated the prize money they won for the drama they wrote in 2017 to Moot library to buy more books.

“It was such an honour to be a part of such a historic celebration,” she said.

“Even though the gathering was very informal, we enjoyed it a lot.”

The location of all community libraries can be found on the Tshwane metro website.
