Father Christmas visits Danville

When residents hear sirens they come out and join the festivities.

Christmas came a few days early on Thursday evening for Danville Pretoria West residents when they were treated to gift packs with Father Christmas on a truck bearing gift packs.

The project, which was spearheaded by Best Care and CPF volunteers, saw residents come out in their numbers to take pictures of Father Christmas on the festively decorated truck. The truck had various gift packs and a local band playing classic Christmas carols.

The convoy of ambulances drove from Danville to Mountain View, Suiderberg, Daspoort, Hercules, Booysens, Claremont, Pretoria Tuine and Wolmer.

The project was in its second year and has significantly improved since then, said Xander Loubser of Best Care Emergency. Last year the organisers distributed 11 000 gift packs and this year that number were increased to 18 000.

“We decided to expand the project to reach out to more people.”

Loubser said when residents hear sirens they come out and join them.

The gift packs included a Bible, toy and sweets for the young ones.

Loubser said this is a project that is close to their hearts and it is something they hope brings light and love within the various communities they visit.
