Warm meals for 120 needy people

Different organisations joined hands on Sunday to give food to 120 needy people in a park in Booysens, west of Pretoria.

About 120 struggling residents of Booysens, Pretoria West, received warm meals on a very cold Sunday last week.

The initiative was organised by Angels in Need, sponsor Neels Marais and Lucy Taljaard and her organisation Place of Faith.

The project was started and is still coordinated by Taljaard and her organisation, and Taljaard also hands out food at the corner of Bremer and Market streets on Wednesdays and Sundays.

“The main purpose of the project is to supply warm meals to families who really struggle and homeless people in Booysens and surrounding areas,” said Marlene Robbertse, a member of Angels In Need.

“Although we as Angels In Need are still in our baby shoes regarding the assistance, outreach and upliftment of our community, our aim is to increase the number of days that food is distributed to people and by joining hands – organisations can make a positive change in a community.”

Angels In Need is inviting anyone who wants to get involved in the feeding programme to contact it on 076-640-5861 or 072-509-7647. You can also send an email to admin@angelsineed.co.za.
