CPF member will walk again

Young Pretoria West CPF member will finally be able to walk again after having an operation on Saturday.

The young Pretoria West CPF member who was shot in the leg early last month will finally be able to walk again.

Shimon Theron (19) underwent an operation to his leg and received some skin-grafting at the Midstream Cure Day clinic on Friday.

Theron’s mother, Zelia-Sonja said his friends and family made it possible for him to have this operation.

“They donated towards the operation which was a great success on Friday. I thank God that my son will walk again,” she said,

Theron and Hennie Prinsloo were shot during a business robbery in Danville. They, together with other CPF members, were responding to a call for help as the Danville Kwikspar was being robbed.

Theron had undergone an operation to his leg at Kalafong hospital, but needed another operation after his discharge.

Theron was discharged on Monday after his latest operation, saying he felt much better.

“Everything went well. The doctors and hospital staff were great and did a good job,” he said.

“I was surprised after the operation to hear that I would not need to have another operation because I thought the skin-grafting would be a separate operation.”

The skin-grafting was required because of the extent of the exit bullet wound.

While in theatre, Theron’s mother agreed to him having his skin-grafting at once with the operation.

“I am still in pain and will still have to use the wheelchair but I am slowly going to get of the chair and later use crutches,” he said.

“I also want to thank everyone for their contributions to helping me have the operation. Now all I need to do is take things slowly.”
