Pretoria West CPF holds awareness fun day

Tshwane metro police made the community aware of the services they offer.

The Pretoria West community policing forum (CPF) and metro police held a community awareness day at the Transoranje School for the Deaf on Saturday. Chairperson of the CPF, Willie Viljoen said the aim was to inform people of the services the CPF offered, recruit new members for the CPF and get the community more involved.

The programme included a demonstration of helicopter rescue techniques, police dogs in action, and firemen dealing with a burning car.

Jumping castles and water slides were set up for children and numerous food and other stalls made visitors feel welcome. Games such as tug-of-war, a three-legged race and many other events helped to keep the children occupied.

There was also a potjiekos competition for adventurous and competitive cooks.

Viljoen said the day was a great success, and he was pleased the CPF could bring their message across in a fun way.
