Southdowns College rings in the 2019 school year with the bells of tradition
Southdowns College welcomed 2019 on a special note.
Southdowns College in Centurion rang in the 2019 academic year with a unique bell-ringing ceremony on the first day of school.
“We had an amazing first day at Southdowns College Pre-Prep,” said principal Louise Jansen.
“It was wonderful to see all the little smiles and hear all the children’s voices again.”
Grades 8 and 1 learners each had the opportunity to partake in their traditional rite of passage, before kicking off the new school year.
The ceremonies included staff pledging their commitment to pupils as well as the new learners’ entry into the school.
“We have a number of new families at our school and we trust that they will be very happy being part of our Southdowns family,” said Jansen.
“Our school is excited about this new year. We would like to continue building our community, through developing, guiding and loving our children. Our focus will be on building relationships and living our values, as we are raising ambassadors for our beautiful country.”
“We have some exciting plans for the year ahead in terms of sporting and cultural offering as well as continuing our excellence in academics,” said principal Pierre Labuschagne.
“We are looking forward to growing the school further and make it a really exciting and vibrant place for everyone.”
