Hoërskool Centurion class of 2018

Hoërskool Centurion was once again the top academic school in Centurion.

The school managed a 100% pass rate with 92.1% of matriculants qualifying to study a for bachelor’s degree.

The top learner was Anneke Langner, while Lissette van Niekerk, Corné Snyman and Nicola Janse van Rensburg all received seven distinctions.

Langner’s subjects were Afrikaans home language, English first additional language, life orientation, mathematical literacy, history, visual arts and dramatic arts.

Langner wants to study BA languages along with creative writing at the North West University.

“My dream for the future is to make a difference in the literary world with my writing ability,” she said.

She lists poetry and short stories as her interests and spends her free time writing and losing herself in a book.

Her mother was her role model, “being the best example of an independent and strong woman as described in Proverbs 31”.

Van Niekerk’s subjects were Afrikaans home language, English first additional language, life orientation, mathematics, life sciences, physical sciences and accounting.

She plans to study medicine at the University of Pretoria with the goal of one day becoming the best doctor she can be.

When she is not spending time outdoors or with her family, she enjoys running and reading.

Janse van Rensburg’s subjects were Afrikaans home language, English first additional language, life orientation, mathematics, life sciences, physical sciences, IT and music.

She dreams of one day opening her own paediatric practice.

“I have a large support system and lots of people I admire, but prefer to strive to be the best version of myself,” said Janse van Rensburg.
