GALLERY: Grade 1 learners start first day of school with full hearts and big smiles
A successful first day of Grade 1 is now officially underway.
The first day of school was a huge success in Centurion, with dozens of grinning grade 1 learners entering the gates of Laerskool Swartkop, Laerskool Bakenkop, Rooihuiskraal Primary and Doringkloof Primary on Wednesday.
The smiles were infectious as the little ones and their parents made their way to their classrooms to prepare for their first day of “big school”.
Many grade 1s told Rekord that they were utterly excited to make new friends, play on the playground during recess and learn from their teachers.
All learners were allocated to their designated seats when they arrived, with emotional parents having the opportunity to take pictures and kiss their little ones goodbye.
Parents were required to fill out a form to inform the teacher what the whereabouts of their child will be once school ends.
“I’m very excited to drop off my two girls for grade 1 today, they are twins but we divided them into different classes so they are able to grow into their own persons and enjoy making new friends,” one emotional mommy told Rekord.
The learners were supplied with crayons and pieces of paper to draw and colour in while they waited for the rest of their classmates to arrive before the big day officially started.
