SCHOOL: Southdowns ballerina cast as Clara in the Nutcracker

She was awarded a percentage scholarship to attend the Summer Intensive Course with the American Academy of Ballet this year.

Southdowns College Grade 5 learner Isabella Godinho continues to impress on stage, as she is cast as Clara in The Nutcracker for the end of the year production at the State Theatre of Pretoria.

Isabella is currently the only learner from Southdowns College who dances with the Youth Dance Company of Tshwane (YDCT) and has seen great success in numerous productions, more recently Little Red Riding Hood.

Commenting on her achievements, her mother Tatiana Godinho says, “She loves to dance ballet and is achieving great results at the Youth Dance Company and at her studio.

She has lessons with Debra Gush and Inge van Rensburg at the Southdowns Dance Academy, where she is doing her intermediate foundation exam this August.” Isabella attends six lessons a week and performs with the YDCT with Tanya Graafland, Christopher Montague and Sue Kirkland.

A dedicated and passionate ballerina, she attended the Johannesburg Summer Schools during the 2017 December holiday and was awarded a percentage scholarship to attend the Summer Intensive Course with the American Academy of Ballet this year.
