SPAR Willowways came to the rescue of Shirinda Primary School on Mandela Day.

Sanco in Ward 67, Mamelodi West, approached SPAR Willowways for funds to help rebuild the Shirinda Primary School.

Staff members from SPAR went to the school to inspect the conditions there, and saw that the school desperately needed help.
SPAR’s stock manager, Gansezl Gootzider said:
“The school desperately needed renovation, starting from the classrooms, the ceilings, the kitchen, toilets and even a playground for the pupils to play in.”
“We have decided to start a two year project whereby SPAR will try to help the school. We will fix the toilets, windows, desks, chairs, ceilings, the kitchen and build a playground for the pupils.”

Clearance Malaza from Sanco, a former pupil of the school said:
“I take off my hat for SPAR for their quick response to the school’s needs. They never hesitated to assist the school.”

“Adopting the school for a period of two years is more than what we have bargained for.”

The principal, Lawrance Mukhare, thanked the SPAR and Sanco members for what they have done for the school, the pupils can now learn in a clean and healthy environment.
