TMPD vehicle overturned by protesters – fake news

“It has nothing to do with the current status of protest in the city, as the picture claims.”

The public should not be fooled by a Tshwane Metro police vehicle that has been overturned by protesters.

This comes after TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said he was aware of a picture that was doing the rounds on social media on Thursday, showing a TMPD vehicle that was attacked and overturned by protesters.

“We would like to emphasise that it is an old picture of an incident that took place in 2016. It has nothing to do with the current status of protest in the city, as the picture claims.”

He urged members of the public to stop circulating wrong information which is misleading to the community and to law enforcement.
