LETTER: Road safety disregarded

A total distance of 4.8 kilometres is currently a death trap for motorists.

According to councillor Jacqui Uys, the road markings on Solomon Mahlangu Drive are not the responsibility of the city council since it was a provincial road.

How come, then, that the previous municipal regime (Sputla Ramokgopa and Co) had the authority to change the name?

Surely this is illegal to change what does not belong to you?

I think Uys has one of two choices:

Either apply the road markings between the N4 highway and Rubinstein Drive on Solomon Mahlangu as an urgent safety measure; or throw in the towel and reintroduce Hans Strijdom as the official name – and don’t blame the ANC regime for the past “mistake.”

A total distance of 4.8 kilometres is currently a death trap for motorists. And while they’re at it, fix the lights. Or does Clr Uys wish to see yet another anti-DA tsunami in 18 months’ time?
