Atteridgeville murder suspect held for illegal firearm, ammo
The murder suspect was out on bail when the police stopped a group of people and searched them.
A 29-year-old Atteridgeville murder suspect who is out on bail has been arrested for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
The man was arrested during a patrol operation lead by sector 3 manager Sergeant Sithole and his team on Wednesday. He is expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Thursday on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said police stopped a group of people and searched them and found an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Selepe said the suspect was out on bail on a case of murder.
“Pretoria Central SAPS members continue to intensify efforts in bringing down the levels of crime in the CBD,” said Selepe.
Tshwane west cluster commander Major-General Thomas Mthombeni applauded the members for their efforts in ridding communities of illegal firearms.
Selepe said the police remained committed in the fight against the proliferation of illegal firearms as these were used by criminals in the commission of serious and violent crimes.
“Operations will continue throughout the cluster during this festive period and beyond.”
