GALLERY: The best of the best awarded at the Best of Pretoria Readers’ Choice Awards 2018

The winners, readers and reader winners celebrated in style yesterday at the annual Best of Pretoria Readers' Choice Awards 2018 function held at the Silver Lakes Golf Estate.

Pretorians and winners of this year’s prestigious Best of Pretoria Readers’ Choice Awards got together at a lavish award ceremony, held at Silver Lakes golf estate yesterday, to raise a toast to this year’s winners.

This was the sixth annual Best of Pretoria Readers’ Choice Awards event, where we got to recognise the best the city has to offer as decided by readers.

The MC for the event was none other than Martin Bester, who also won two awards himself, namely best radio show and best radio personality.

There is no denying that Pretoria is a first-rate city.

In addition to the breathtakingly beautiful scenery, it is a community with heart.

It also has a rich and diverse mix of culture and heritage, boasting charming suburban eateries, trendy hang-outs and top-notch shopping destinations.

This year, the people of Pretoria once again were not shy to give top marks to their favourites in the different categories.

After counting and auditing tens of thousands of votes, a beautiful coffee table booklet was again compiled as a guide to reflect the beauty and charm that underpins the character of the city.

Make sure to get your hands on a copy.

“This morning’s event emphasised the sense of belonging that our Best of Pretoria Awards competition, together with Rekord newspapers and Get It Pretoria magazine, have created between brands, the business community, personalities and our readers,” said Chris Mcinga, business manager at Capital Media.

“Not only was it a successful gathering, it also left us appreciating that we all strive to have means to keep our community together whilst saving them time in their busy lives.”

As with previous years, our ten reader winners also got to win their share of prizes worth more than R200 000 at the function. These names were drawn at random from the scores of people who entered this year’s competition.

This year’s prizes included vouchers from Placecol Silver Lakes or The Grove worth R2 500; vouchers from Metro Centre Home; a two night’s stay for two people sharing including breakfast at Legend Golf & Safari Resort worth R 9 200; a R2 500 jewellery gift voucher from Dust Designs; a one night’s stay, including breakfast and a R300 dinner voucher for two at Farm Inn; Sunday lunch and a game drive for two people at Farm Inn worth R590; a Deetlefs wine tasting session for one lucky winner and a maximum of 29 guests at a place of their choice worth R8 000; a pair of Rayban Clubmaster sunglasses valued at R2 550 from Lambinon Optometrists.
