UPDATE: Help us find missing woman – Brooklyn police

Dawn Basdeo’s body is still missing after police arrested her husband for her alleged murder last week.

Brooklyn police have appealed to other police stations in the province to help locate the body of a missing 57-year-old woman.

Dawn Basdeo’s body is still missing after police arrested her husband for her alleged murder on Thursday.

Despite not having found the body, police said forensics had led them to believe that Dawn had been murdered.

Police are using all available resources to find the missing body, but it has not been found yet,” said police spokesperson Colette Weilbach.

Dawn’s vehicle was recovered in Soweto two days after her disappearance.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information to report it at their nearest police station.

“Brooklyn SAPS hope to find the body soon to give the family some closure,” said Weilbach.

Prem Emmanuel Basdeo (58) was arrested after he reported his wife missing to the police.

Weilbach said they had been searching areas where the man said he allegedly dumped the body with no luck.

Police are out every day searching for the body and no progress has been made yet,” she said.

Prem was accused of a similar crime 16 years ago when his then-wife, Neetha, was found dead in their home.

He was later acquitted of the charges.

Weilbach called on other stations in Gauteng to contact the Brooklyn police if a body fitting Dawn’s description was found.

Prem will be appearing the Pretoria Magistrate’s court on Thursday 21 June.
