UPDATE: Bronkhorstspruit crash victim’s operation postponed

All systems go for lone survivor's operation on Tuesday.

An operation to repair the broken bones of the sole survivor of a horror crash near Bronkhorstspruit has been postponed.

Louis Esterhuizen’s operation has been postponed because of a high infection count.

“The operation will now be on Tuesday,” according said Esterhuizen’s mother, Betty Klymsit.

Esterhuizen narrowly escaped death earlier this month when he and his girlfriend, Michelle Brits were involved in a collision near Bronkhorstspruit.

Brits died at the scene and was buried in an emotional send-off a week later.

One of the occupants of the other vehicle also died at the scene and the other in hospital a day later.

The couple were on their way home from a trip to Cape Town where they celebrated Esterhuizen’s birthday with family.

Operations on Esterhuizen were previously postponed as doctors were not sure whether he was strong enough.

Esterhuizen has also been moved from a high-care ward to a “normal” one, said Klymsit.
