Esterhuizen and his girlfriend Michelle Brits were involved in a car accident last weekend, while on their way back from Cape Town where they had celebrated his birthday.

Brits, as well as the two passengers from the other vehicle, passed away.

Esterhuizen’s abdominal area was also said to have started swelling on Monday.

“The feeding was stopped because it seemed to be causing him to swell,” Klymsit said.

The 23-year-old Esterhuizen has not yet been told about the passing of his girlfriend.

“We’re just focused on him getting better and making a full recovery,” said Klymsit.
