Three men accused of killing Bronkhorstspruit magistrate Victor Mabunda are expected to appear in court on Monday for a bail application.

The men are accused of shooting and killing Mabunda in the driveway of his home in January.

Nothing was stolen from the victim, fuelling speculation that his murder may have been a “hit”.

The NPA’s Matric Luphondo said they would investigate if any of the suspects were linked to some of the cases Mabunda was working on.

Luphondo said the state would oppose bail when the men appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court.

In a statement, the ANC in the region urged members of the community to show up in numbers to support the Mabunda family.

“Let us support the Mabunda family and call for the speedy resolution of this murder case which has touched many of our residents,” it said.
