The officers are alleged to have coerced a motorist to the bank to withdraw cash for a bribe.

“Two Tshwane metro police officers are to appear in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court today on charges of kidnapping, robbery, extortion, defeating the ends of justice and corruption.”

Zwane said one of the suspects was believed to be a new recruit who completed training last year.

He said the arrest was a result of collaborative work between members of the RTMC, the national traffic anti-corruption unit, the police’s organised crime unit, and the Tshwane metro police.
