GALLERY: Spring rose festival at Ludwig’s Roses

Luscious roses and all things roses were the order of the day at the 46th Spring festival

Spring rose blossoms, roses and champagne were the order of the day during Ludwig’s Rose Farm’s 46th Spring rose festival on Thursday, 5 October.

Paired with Kleine Zalze wines and bubbly, the Spring festival doubled up as a rose naming ceremony where two of Ludwig’s Rose Farm’s newest releases were named after Comrades king, Bruce Fordyce.

On Sunday, 8 October, another newly released rose was named after actress, Elize Cawood.

Fordyce was in attendance on Thursday and said although he was used to receiving awards, having a rose named after him was an honour.

Ludwig Taschner said the decor was fitting the theme – luscious greens and, of course, celebrating all things roses.

A twist, however, was included – vintage VWs decorated with roses.

Family, friends and attendees were spoilt with gourmet foods, bottomless wine and champagne and a rosey goodie bag.

The food, prepared by The Rose Kitchen, was mouthwatering.
