East teams up against crime

Private security officials, the police and residents teamed up in the east of Pretoria on Saturday to boost visible resistance against crime.

Brinant Security spokesperson Martin Barnard the operation was conducted in phases in Garsfontein.

The first stage ran from 06:00 to 09:00 and the second from 16:00 to 20:00.

“We mostly focused on Sector 4, which consist of Moreleta Park and Constantia Park,” said Barnard.

No one was arrested during the operation.

“The main aim of the operation was to create police visibility. We wanted to show criminals that we are here,” he said.

Barnard said the idea was to do this once a month.
