Craft beer tasting at Zeppelin

Families gather at the stylish Zeppelin Brewery and Bunker bar for beer tasting under the stars.

Locals made their way to the Zeppelin Brewery and Bunker bar east of
Pretoria on Thursday evening for a beer tasting event.

The bar at the Blos Café in Faerie Glen has a creative underground
design with a World War 2 theme.

Co-founder Laurence Bekker introduced the five different kinds of
craft beer which were on display.

Bekker said the beer tasting events took place once or twice a month.

“We usually have this sort of event every first Thursday of the month.
Throughout the year, we will definitely have more craft beer tasting.
Everyone is welcome to join us,” he said.

Also on menu was the German-originated Weiss beer.

“This nice beer is good during hot afternoons. It’s very popular in
summer and has high carbonation,” Bekker added.

He said Zeppelin beer was born in 2013 between a group of friends as a
social get-together.

“We all had a passion for music from the band Led Zeppelin and also a
passion for beer,” said Bekker.

“Following the birth of the craft brewery, we obtained an opportunity
of leasing a small space at the Blos Café where we brew three times a
week.”
