Equestria fed up with crime
Equestria residents take matters into their own hands after crime spike.
A resident east of Pretoria lives in fear as robbers continue to be an increasing problem in his area.
Kefentse Mompei of Equestria said criminals were now becoming arrogant.
“These criminals have gotten to a point where they are no longer afraid of consequences.”
Mompei said the most recent attempted break-in was just a week ago.
He said a piece of municipal land bordering a wet-land just behind his residential complex provided a hiding place for criminals.
All he wanted was for the metro to cut down the grass in the open veld around security complexes in the area.
Mompei said residents fed up with rising crime had organised a meeting for Saturday in Stellenberg Road in Equestria and invited police, councillors and metro officials.
Silverton police spokesperson Jan Sepato said police were patrolling the area were using every resource available to curb crime.
He said police could not be everywhere at the same time but it was important for proper communication to flow from residents to police.
Sepato said the matter would be investigated.
