Ten illegal immigrants among other suspects arrested in Ga-Rankuwa

Ten suspected illegal immigrants were arrested in Ga-Rankuwa this past weekend.
Police station communication officer Shimi Tsheole said the arrests were a result of a collaborative effort between SAPS and the Department of Home Affairs.
He said the collaboration yielded positive results as suspects found themselves behind bars.
“Other arrests included suspects arrested for assault common, attempted murder, contravention of protection orders, possession of copper cables, shoplifting, housebreaking and theft, drunk driving and possession of dagga,” he said.
Tsheole said the success over the weekend is an indication of a productive operational plan.
“The intention is to achieve SAPS’ vision of creating a safe and secure environment for all people in South Africa,” he said.
The suspects made a brief appearance in the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
This follows on last week’s operation Okae Molao where police searched for drugs, weapons and other illegal goods in Ga-Rankuwa.
During the operation, 12 illegal immigrants were arrested and two taverns were closed down.
