New constables report for duty at Tshwane police stations

“The constables have all undergone the six-month introductory police learning development programme.”

The Tshwane police district welcomed 24 new constables to its ranks on Monday.

They are deployed to enhance police visibility in the region, according to acting Tshwane District Commissioner Brigadier Samuel Thine.

“The constables have all undergone the six-month introductory police learning development programme,” he said.

He advised them to perform their duties with endurance and further their studies.

Thine also warned the officers not to engage in any corrupt activities.

“We will arrest anyone who commits a crime and engage in disruptive activities.

“No one is above the law.”

Newly welcomed constables to report for duty in Tshwane.

Colonel Stephina Nkosi reminded the officers to always wear their uniforms according to the law.

“Always wear a visible name tag so that the community members can see who is serving them.”

SAPS during its 2021/22 financial year envisaged that about 3 000 vacancies would be considered for filling by recruiting new police officers across the provinces.

“Public service act personnel and current serving reservists will be considered for recruitment as fully fledged police officials,” said police minister Bheki Cele.

He said 2 000 public service act personnel and 1 000 current serving reservists would be targeted.

Cele said the budget would focus on professionalising the police service through skills development; investing in machinery and equipment, such as transport assets as well as mobile police stations, focus on critical items such as bullet-resistant vests, firearms and uniforms.
