Tshwane residents will be unaffected by planned water shutdown

“We, however, urge all residents to continue using water supply sparingly during this period."

Pretoria residents will not be affected by a water shutdown planned by Rand Water at the beginning of next month, the Tshwane metro said.

“The City of Tshwane has been informed by Rand Water that their planned shutdown scheduled for April 1 to 3, will not have any impact on the municipality,” spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said.

He explained that Rand Water managed to isolate the S3 pipeline and diverted water supply to its R1 and R5 pipelines through the S1 pipelines through simulations conducted on its infrastructure.

“No area under the Tshwane metro will be affected for the duration of the shutdown,” Mashigo said.

During the shutdown, he said, the R1 and R5 pipelines would continuously supply water to Rand Water’s Bronberg reservoir which supplied water to the city.

“We, however, urge all residents to continue using water supply sparingly during this period,” Mashigo said.
